588 photovoltaic panels were installed by specialists, enabling them to operate during the day with 100% solar electricity. With the annual electricity generated of the PV plant totalling 335.000 kWh, the hotel avoids burning more than 110,000 litres of diesel annually, reducing their carbon footprint by 340 tons of CO2 every year!

Need to Know
It’s recommended to bring clothes for all temperatures when visiting the desert. The temperatures vary wildly from day to night and at low and high altitudes.
Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate, you’re in the desert after all. The hotel provides personal water bottles and purified water refills (to avoid the use of plastic).
There are no TVs provided in the rooms. This approach encourages guests to disconnect with the modern world and stresses, and reconnect with the surroundings.

Tierra Atacama is located in the town of San Pedro de Atacama, Chile. The town is set within the Andes mountains of northeastern Chile, an incredible landscape.
How to get there
The distance from the airport El Loa Calama to the hotel is 1hr 15 min drive (104km). The hotel picks up guests at the airport, usually in small groups.
Transfers are included in the price both to and from Calama airport and the village of San Pedro. The hotel manager will greet you on arrival to show you around.
