  • Meet your Host

Meet Douglas and Insuba, owners of Pavilions Himalayas.

Douglas was only planning to live in Nepal for 1 year, but 25+ years later he hasn’t looked back. His passions include hiking and running in the mountains.

‘Our NGO is an organisation that helps children and women in Nepal. When I heard that 1 in 33 pregnant women die due to easily avoidable causes, I felt compelled to help. I believe that poverty is not about wealth, it’s about not having a voice and not having an opportunity.’

  • Need to Know

The hotels facilities are regrettably not suitable for wheelchair users at this time.

As you’ll be in the very heart of nature and will be close to a jungle in the midst of farmland, you can naturally expect to encounter creepy crawlies from time to time.

Contrary to popular belief Nepal is not freezing cold all year. Expect to feel the humid and hot weather as well as the chill or arctic-like weather in the Himalayas.

  • Location

The Pavilions Himalayas is situated in the rich farmland of the Chisapamni Village in Pokhara, Nepal. This tranquil valley setting is ideally located near the centre of the vibrant city.

Pokhara is known as the ‘gateway to the Annapurna Circuit’, a popular trail of the Himalayas, making this the perfect place for hikers.

    How To Get There

There are regular 25-minute flights available from Kathmandu to Pokhara, where the hotel’s vehicle will pick you up for a 20-minute transfer, half of which is on a bumpy dirt track. You will be welcomed with a refreshing mocktail and a lot of friendly faces. Alternatively, you can drive from Kathmandu and explore the countryside, but this will take you approximately 6 hours depending on the traffic.

Grey water produced at the hotel is pumped back into the toilets for reuse, used to water the vegetable gardens and even sometimes allowed to flow back into the ground to boost the underground water-table levels so that no grey water is wasted. Once grey water is flushed down the toilet, it becomes black water and is then stored in tanks to create biogas.

These projects include the Right4Children NGO which aims to assist local schools through initiatives such as setting up a computer lab and teacher training. "Worth the journey outside of Pokara "

This is a clean, hospitable, and sustainable retreat outside of Pokara. The drive to the hotel alone is a beautiful experience with farmers washing their water buffalo along the river.
