Need to Know
There is no air conditioning in the rooms. As a sustainable focused hotel, situated in the cool mountains, it’s obvious why 😉
There is a road toll over the Felbertauern highway to be aware of which is 11 euros and can be paid by cash or card.
If you’re a smoker be aware that smoking is not allowed anywhere inside the hotel, it’s only possible outside of the building.

Location
Matrei is a market town in Osttirol (East Tyrol) in the Lienz district and it is within the famous Hohe Tauern mountain range of the Central Eastern Alps. So, as you can imagine, the landscape that surrounds the hotel is made up of a series of beautiful mountains and hills.
How to get there
If you arrive via the airports in Munich, Salzburg, Innsbruck, and Klagenfurt, a private shuttle service can be booked directly with the hotel for a fee. Alternatively, there is the option to travel by public transport. The distance from Salzburg Airport is 2h 15 min drive (156km).

Smaller portions of food is served (more food available upon request) to minimise food waste and packaging is not used on some smaller products such as chocolate, marmalade, honey etc. And for shampoo, soap units etc. small packaging is not used, instead a bigger fixed is installed in each bathroom and refilled when necessary (toiletries being eco-friendly).
